Ardbeg – Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition (70cl, 47.5%)

Ardbeg Smoketrails Manzanilla Edition is an Islay single malt of light golden colour, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a combination of American oak and Spanish Manzanilla sherry casks. The nose is fresh and light, with pomelo and burnt lemon peel alongside roasted peanuts coated in almond butter. On the palate it opens fresh with a fine sour note, green mint and a few drops of eucalyptus, before salty undertones, pepper, oregano and a strong presence of seaweed arrive. A savoury note of bruschetta with garlic follows, and the finish is of medium length, with lemon cake and a return of the burnt lemon peel carrying a spicy touch.
