Ardbeg – Smokiverse

An Islay single malt from Ardbeg, made for Ardbeg Day 2025 and marking the 25th anniversary of the Ardbeg Committee. It is the distillery's first whisky made with high-gravity mashing, which gave a dense, intensely flavoured wort and a richer new-make spirit with more fruity esters. The spirit was matured in classic ex-bourbon casks, which let bold fruit mingle with sweet smoke, toasted grain and Ardbeg's earthiness. The nose is fruity and estery, recalling smoked bubblegum, with ripe barley and toasted sourdough. Water brings out sweet peat smoke and gently smoked tropical fruit. The palate is creamy and rich, with sooty anise and clove against muscovado sweetness. The finish is very long, with earthy peat moss and bonfire embers.
