Ardbeg Trudernish is a 15 year old Islay single malt, bottled at 48.8% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. It was matured in bourbon casks, new charred oak and Oloroso sherry casks.
The name comes from Trudernish, a former settlement on Islay, where a spring is said to have had water that never froze. Dr Bill Lumsden and Gillian Macdonald created it, and it won a double gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The nose is gentle peat and wood smoke over vanilla cream, with fudge sauce. The palate moves from pine needles and damp forest floor to dark liquorice, chocolate and mint. The finish is long, with smouldering peat, vanilla and roasted nuts.
