Ardbeg Wee Beastie is a five-year-old Islay single malt that belongs to the distillery's permanent range. It matures in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks and is bottled at 47.4%, without chill-filtration or added colour. In the glass it is a pale golden shade. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
Peat smoke, tarry notes and savoury, meaty flavours are set against chocolate and a little fruit.
The nose is fresh and herbal, with vanilla, pear, black pepper, honey-glazed ham, Turkish coffee and pine resin. The palate is full and powerful, with chocolate, tar, creosote, smoked bacon, eucalyptus and aniseed. The finish is long and salty, with cocoa and fudge.
