Ardbeg Wee Beastie is an Islay single malt from the Ardbeg distillery, aged for a minimum of five years and bottled at 47.4% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was released young on purpose, to bring out the raw, peaty character of the spirit, and it is non-chill filtered.
It is matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, with the sherry casks adding sweetness and fruit to the smoke.
The nose is peat smoke, like a damp bonfire with black pepper, alongside honey-glazed ham, espresso and pine resin. The palate is oily, with hot tar, creosote, dark chocolate, spice and a zesty tang. The finish is long and salty.
