This is a seven-year-old Ardnamurchan from 2014, a single cask of first-fill bourbon barrel bottled by Whisky Sponge at 57.1% in a 70cl bottle. It is Edition 48C, part of a triptych release in which two single casks became three separate bottlings.
The barrel is described as naturally juicy and sweet, with barley sugars, flowers, bready richness and fresh cereals.
The nose offers golden cereals, crunchy sugar, green apple and yeasty dough. On the palate, sharp, bright fruit meets a more present smoke, with apples in syrup and white grapes. The finish is short to medium, with dry, slightly tannic smoke and crunchy sugars.
