Ardnamurchan – 6 Year Old Whisky Sponge Edition No.48B (70cl, 53%)

This is a 6 year old Highland single malt from Ardnamurchan, bottled by Whisky Sponge as Edition 48B. It is part of a triptych of three bottlings made from two single casks, and 48B is an equal mix of both, a refill barrel and a first fill barrel, reduced to 53% in a 70cl bottle. The nose brings lemon posset, apricot flan and apple compote with coal dust smoke and a touch of medicinal lemon. On the palate it is sweet, with orchard and stone fruit in syrup, barbecue briquettes, rock dust and a little mint. The finish is medium to long, with lingering fruit sugars and rocky touches.
