Ardnamurchan – 8 Years Old 2018 (57.1%)

This peated single malt was distilled in 2018 at Ardnamurchan on the west coast of the Highlands and bottled by the independent bottler Thompson Bros. of Dornoch. The label art is by KMG. It spent 8 years in a first fill barrel, a cask the bottler suggests can stand up to young, robust peated spirit and add depth in a relatively short time. It is bottled at natural cask strength of 57.1% ABV, with natural colour and no chill filtration. The whisky is described as dense, atmospheric and boldly savoury, big and mouth-coating, with sweetness and rich umami running through the peat smoke.
