Ardnamurchan AD Cask Strength is a single malt from Ardnamurchan Distillery on the West Highland coast, bottled unfiltered at 57%. The distillery uses local barley and renewable energy.
This small-batch release combines mostly peated spirit with a smaller share of unpeated. It was matured mainly in ex-bourbon barrels, with a smaller part in sherry casks.
The nose is coastal, with sea spray, wet seashells and bonfire ash, then lemon zest and honeycomb. The palate is rich and oily, with maritime peat smoke and black pepper against vanilla custard, green apple and salted toffee. The finish is long and slightly drying, with wood smoke, seaweed and a hint of orange peel. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
