This is the cask strength AD release from Ardnamurchan, the distillery on Scotland's west coast operated by Adelphi Distillery Ltd. It is a single malt made from 87% peated and 13% unpeated spirit, matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Each bottle carries a QR code that traces the whisky from barley to bottle.
The nose brings lemon peel, a salty breeze and plenty of maritime peat. On the palate, caramelised nuts give way to crisp apple, with peat and vanilla lingering. The finish is long, with leather, cigar boxes, white pepper and wood.
