Ardnamurchan – AD/Sherry Cask Release (70cl, 50%)

This is a sherry cask release from Ardnamurchan in the Highlands, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It combines peated and unpeated spirit, matured in Oloroso sherry casks (90%) and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks (10%). No colouring is added and it is not chill-filtered. The outturn is 21,000 bottles. The nose is full of Murray mints, beach bonfire, salted peanut ice cream, tomato stalks, Brazil nut, sun-dried tomatoes, beef teriyaki jerky, relish and tamari. The palate offers tarred rope, smoky bacon, an old tractor shed, brittle peanut and sticky ribs, then red plum and cherry before turning meaty. The finish recalls crashing waves, sea salt, an open fire and a cigar shop.
