Ardnamurchan – Sauternes Cask (Peated Spirit) (70cl, 50%)

Ardnamurchan Sauternes Cask is a Highland single malt made entirely from peated spirit. It spent three years in 29 ex-bourbon casks, then was re-racked into ex-Sauternes barriques for a further three and a half years. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle, from an outturn of 8460 bottles, and is non-chill-filtered with natural colour. The nose brings lime leaf, lemon balm, shortbread, hay bales, pineapple upside-down cake and desiccated coconut, with stem ginger syrup, pencil shavings and tobacco. The palate has nutmeg, dried ginger, orange blossom water, smoked manuka honey and lemon meringue pie, ending in hickory wood and farmy smoke. The finish is spicy, punchy and bright.
