Ardnamurchan The Midgie is a single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48%. This 2026 release was made to honour the Highland midge, which the distillery calls Scotland's most infamous creature.
The vatting is 34% ex-American bourbon barrels, 49% Ruby Port barriques and 17% Tawny port casks. The spirit is split roughly 70% unpeated and 30% peated.
The nose offers red raspberry, golden syrup, cedar and crème de violette, with preserved lemons and lightly smoked spiced ham. On the palate are gentle cigar smoke, bramble, lemon thyme, pink peppercorn and syrup of figs. The finish is bitter orange, juicy and salty.
