This is an Arran single malt finished in Amarone wine casks, bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matures first in traditional oak casks, then moves into red wine casks from a craft producer in Veneto. It is made at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran from unpeated malt, and it is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.
The nose offers poached pear and honey with toasted almonds and a faint hint of cranberry. On the palate come dark chocolate, cherry and Turkish delight, with stewed fruit and toffee. The finish pairs the finesse of the malt with restrained fruit and oak from the Amarone casks.
