Arran – Amarone Cask Finish (70cl, 50%)

This is an Arran single malt finished in casks that previously held Amarone wine. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle, as a limited edition. The whisky first matured for eight years in American oak before moving to the Amarone casks, which come from the Veneto region of Italy. Arran is an unpeated style, made at the distillery built at Lochranza in 1994. The nose has stewed pear, honey, toasted almond, cranberry, coffee, chocolate orange and butterscotch. The palate brings cranberry, dark chocolate, cherry, toffee, dark plum, bittersweet apricot and cinnamon. The finish is harmonious and elegant, with fruity Amarone wine.
