Arran – Port Cask Finish (70cl, 50%)

This is a single malt from the Isle of Arran distillery, finished in casks that previously held port. Before the finish, the whisky matured for eight years in American oak casks. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The port finish is part of a series in which the malts are finished only in casks that once held fortified wines. The nose combines vanilla, ripe citrus, dried fruit, nuts, mandarin, fudge and honeyed notes. On the palate there is layered fruit, spice, cinnamon, baked apple, strawberry jam, barley and sweet pear. The finish stays true to the Arran house style, with its usual sweetness and barley.
