Arran – Rare Batch 15 Years Old French Oak Argonne (53.5%)

Arran Rare Batch 15 Years Old is a 15-year-old whisky from the Isle of Arran Distillers, matured in French oak from the Argonne and bottled at 53.5% ABV. It is the first of two whiskies in the Rare Batch series, released in a very limited run. The distillery at Lochranza on the island of Arran opened in 1995, and in its early years it filled a wide range of cask types to learn how the new make interacted with each. The nose is cedar, sandalwood and incense with white grapes, pink lady apple and orange blossom. The palate is oily, with honeyed fruits, vanilla, orange cake, nutmeg, brioche and mango. The finish brings warm spices, oak tannins and mandarin liqueur.
