An Arran single malt finished in Sauternes white-wine casks from Bordeaux and bottled at 50%. The unpeated malt from Lochranza spends eight years in traditional oak casks first. Distillery manager Stewart Bowman chooses the wine casks from a small French producer. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
Honeysuckle, melon and marzipan lead the nose, with a fine note of spice. The palate brings strong honey with citrus peel, spices and a salty edge, then vanilla, sultanas and toasted oak. The fairly long finish stays candied and sweet, softened by ginger and other spices.
