Arran – Sauternes Cask (70cl, 50%)

Arran Sauternes Cask is a single malt from the Isle of Arran Distillery, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited release. The whisky spent eight years in American oak casks before a finish in Sauternes casks chosen from Bordeaux. Sauternes is a sweet dessert wine, and the finish adds layers of honey to the citrus character that marks the Arran style. The nose offers honeysuckle, melon, marzipan and banana, with wild flowers and a rich, nutty depth. On the palate come honey, spice, a savoury saltiness, vanilla, sultanas and toasted oak, ending in a full, lively Sauternes finish.
