Athru Keshcorran 14 Year Old Irish Whiskey (70cl, 48%)

Athru Keshcorran is a 14 year old Irish single malt, the third expression in the Athru 14 year old series. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The whiskey spent 10 years in ex-bourbon American oak, then a further 4 years finishing in Tokaji sweet wine casks. Those casks came from a Hungarian vineyard first planted in the 1720s for Catherine the Great. The name comes from Keshcorran, the fairy mountain near Sligo said to be the birthplace of King Cormac. The notes describe green apple and pear, followed by a long, subtle finish of butterscotch and tobacco.
