Athru Keshcorran 14 Year Old (70cl, 48%)

Athru Keshcorran is a 14 year old Irish single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 48% ABV. It is the third expression of the Athru 14 year old. The whiskey spent 10 years in ex-bourbon American oak, then a further 4 years finished in Tokaji sweet wine casks. Those casks came from a Hungarian vineyard first planted in the 1720s for Catherine the Great. The name comes from a fairy mountain near Sligo, reputed birthplace of King Cormac, the first great High King of Ireland. Green apple and pear lead, followed by a long, subtle finish of butterscotch and tobacco.
