This is a 13-year-old Lowland single malt from Auchentoshan, released as the Artist Collective 2007 Aquarrelle edition at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. Maturation in sherry casks is central to its character, and the colour is mahogany.
The nose opens on a fruity rancio of apricot, orange and tangerine, moving to black fruits, malted barley, toffee, and dried figs and dates. The palate is lively and balanced, with apricot, salted butter caramel, prune, toasted walnuts and dark chocolate.
The finish is long and mellow, with cinnamon and ginger giving way to woody notes of chestnut, oak and walnut.
