This Auchentoshan is a single cask bottling from the independent bottler North Star Spirits, part of its Cask Series (023). It was distilled in October 2007 and matured for fifteen years entirely in a red wine barrique. Bottled in September 2023 at a cask strength of 54% in a 70cl bottle, it yielded 295 bottles, with no added colour and no chill-filtration.
The nose brings apple and poached pear, old leather, pipe smoke, butter, dark fruit and dried herbs. On the palate come cider, waxy notes, white pepper and oat pastry, with sweet tobacco, wine and sherry tones, earth and soot. The finish is long and dry, with ash, oak, toasted wood and a touch of bitterness.
