This is a 15-year-old single malt from Auchentoshan, a Lowland distillery. Its malts are said to take on more flavour from wood than most, and this one was matured in virgin oak.
It has a golden colour and won an IWSC gold medal with 95 points.
The nose is pungently spiced, with a distinct note of incense, vanilla, nutmeg and other Christmas aromas, and a touch of roasted hazelnut.
