Auchentoshan – 1987 30 Year Old Single Cask Selected for Singapore (70cl, 55.1%)

A single cask Lowland single malt from Auchentoshan, distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2018 at 30 years old and 55.1% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is a limited edition of 383 bottles, and this is bottle number 307. Master blender Ron Welsh picked a refill oloroso sherry butt for Singapore, expecting it to suit the Asian palate and let more of the distillery's spirit character come through. The whisky is dark golden. The nose has honey and molasses. The palate brings acacia honey, lychee and rose petal, with white pepper, sweet spices, ginger and sweet fresh oak.
