This is a 30-year-old Auchentoshan single malt from the Lowlands, distilled in 1987 and bottled in 2018 from a single cask. It is a limited edition of 383 bottles, selected for Singapore.
Ron Welsh, Auchentoshan's master blender, chose a refill Oloroso sherry butt because he felt it would suit the Asian palate and let more of the distillery's own spirit character come through. The whisky is dark golden and is bottled at 55.1%.
The nose brings honey and molasses. On the palate come acacia honey, lychee and rose petal, with white pepper, sweet spices and ginger, and a touch of sweet, fresh oak.
