Auchentoshan – 1988 16 Year Old (58.9%)

This is a single cask Auchentoshan from the Lowlands, distilled on 30 December 1988 and bottled after 16 years of maturation. It was released at a cask strength of 58.9%, and only 156 bottles were filled. Auchentoshan is triple distilled, and the single cask bottling gives a richer and more intense character than the standard releases. The nose offers citrus oil, light vanilla, soft wood, grassy notes and toffee. On the palate it is powerful but elegant, with honey, yellow apple, oak, spices, malt sugar and floral notes. The finish is long, dry and clean.
