Auchentoshan – American Oak (70cl, 40%)

Auchentoshan American Oak is a triple-distilled Lowland single malt, matured only in first-fill ex-bourbon casks. When it was introduced in 2014 it was the distillery's first bottling aged solely in that type of cask. It is bottled at 40%. Casks from different levels of the warehouse are chosen and vemarried for several months. Higher casks add spice and strong bourbon vanilla, while lower ones give softer peach, citrus and coconut. The nose has bold bourbon vanilla and coconut with layers of bright citrus. The palate is smooth and lively, with vanilla cream, coconut and white peach. The finish stays fresh, with sugared grapefruit and a lingering touch of spice.
