Auchentoshan – Three Wood (70cl, 43%)

Auchentoshan Three Wood is a Lowland single malt matured in three types of cask in turn: first bourbon, then Oloroso sherry and finally Pedro Ximenez sherry. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 43% abv. The distillery at Dalmuir has held its licence since 1823 and draws its water from Loch Katrine. It uses triple distillation and makes its whisky without peated malt, which gives a slightly lighter malt. The three casks leave this one darker in colour, and still soft.
