Auchentoshan – Three Wood (70cl, 43%)

Auchentoshan Three Wood is a triple-distilled Lowland single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in three types of cask in turn: around ten years in American bourbon casks, about a year in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks, and roughly six months in Pedro Ximenez casks. The nose brings stewed fruit, sherry, brown sugar, plums and raisins. On the palate come fruit, hazelnut, a little cinnamon and lemon, with the sweetness of caramel sweets. The finish is long, with oak sweetness and a fresh, moist quality.
