Balcones Eclipse Texas Rye Cask Strength (70cl, 64%)

Eclipse is a cask strength Texas rye from Balcones, bottled at 64% in a 70cl bottle. Balcones ferments the rye with ale and whisky yeasts together, distils it in pot stills and matures it in new charred American oak. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose brings soft cream caramel, vanilla and maple syrup alongside espresso and fresh rye bread, with toasted oak behind. On the palate it is powerful and intense, fruity at first with a toasted bread note, then cinnamon, pepper and allspice. The finish is long and spicy, with sweet vanilla, pepper and aniseed.
