Balcones Texas Rye Whisky (75cl, 50%)

Balcones Texas Rye Whisky is a rye whisky distilled in copper pot stills at Balcones Distilling in Waco, Texas. It is bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle, never chill-filtered and with no added colouring. The mash bill is 100% rye, built on Elbon rye from Northwest Texas with crystal, chocolate and roasted rye malts, ingredients borrowed from brewing. The whisky is matured in new American and Hungarian oak. The distillery describes soft charred oak, black tea, cracked pepper and chocolate-covered cherry on the nose. The palate is creamy, buttery toffee building into peppery rye spice, coffee and nuts, and the finish brings peanut butter and dark chocolate.
