Balcones Lineage is a Texas single malt from Balcones Distilling in Waco, bottled at 47% ABV (94 proof) without chill filtration, in a 750ml bottle.
The mash combines Simpsons Golden Promise barley from Scotland with malted barley grown on the West Texas High Plains. It is distilled in copper pot stills built by Forsyths of Scotland and matured in both refill casks and virgin charred oak, with staves seasoned outdoors for thirty six months.
The nose is sweet, with cream soda, mulled cider, bruised banana, peach and sourdough starter. The palate offers caramelised sweetness, soft oak, manuka honey, chestnut and pineapple cake. The finish builds late, with black tea, cinnamon and a slight prickle.
