Balcones Texas Single Malt Rum Cask Finish is a cask-strength single malt from Balcones Distilling in Waco, Texas, bottled without cutting back with water. It is made from 100% malted barley, pot-distilled, and is non-chill-filtered.
The malt is given a second maturation in casks that previously held Balcones' own Texas rum. Because it is bottled straight from the cask, the strength varies from batch to batch.
The nose offers molasses and toasted malt, with banana, brown sugar and oak. The palate is big and oily, with dark toffee, dried fruit and clove. The finish is long and warming, with rum spice trailing malt biscuit.
