Balcones Texas Single Malt is the flagship "1" from Balcones Distilling in Waco, Texas, bottled at 53% ABV with no age statement. The distillery began distilling in Waco in 2009.
It is made from 100% malted barley of the Golden Promise variety and matured in a combination of new and used American, French and Hungarian oak. The result is a malt with a virgin-oak-forward, New World profile.
The distillery describes toffee and overripe fruit on the nose, along with buttered stone fruit, banana, pears, honey and delicate citrus. The palate is toasted malt and honey with baked pears and apples, and the finish is long, with cinnamon and cloves over rich malt and wood.
