Balmenach 11 Year Old is a Speyside single malt distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2015 for the Scotch Malt Whisky Society as cask 48.63, named Up All Night. It was matured in a single first fill bourbon cask and bottled at 62.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with 211 bottles produced.
The nose is closed at first, with fennel, oak bark and old dusty paper, and lemon and banana appear with repeated nosing. The palate is spirity, with lemon, ginger and a hint of tablet. The finish carries tablet and fennel with a touch of lemon. With water the nose gains lightly toasted bread, and the palate adds more lemon, icing sugar and aniseed.
