Balvenie – 12 Year Old Double Wood (70cl, 40%)

Balvenie 12 Year Old Double Wood is a Speyside single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It matures in first- and second-fill bourbon casks, then spends six to twelve months in Oloroso sherry casks. Balvenie was founded in 1892 by the Grant family, who built neighbouring Glenfiddich in 1886, and both distilleries have stayed in family hands without a break. The distillery stands in Dufftown, close to the castle of the same name. The house style is marked by strong honey tones and a distinctive note of orange.
