Balvenie 12 Year Old Montilla Wine Seasoned Cask is a limited edition from The Balvenie's Stories range, part of A Collection of Curious Casks. It was hand-selected by Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie.
The whisky spent 12 years in European oak butts seasoned with a sweet dessert wine from Montilla in Spain, a cask style The Balvenie had not released before. Each bottle is drawn from a single cask and carries its own cask number.
The nose is crisp barley sugar and runny honey with toasted oak. The palate moves from candied sweetness to vanilla oak, warming spice and dried apricots, and the finish is a refreshing sweetness.
