Balvenie – 14 Year Old Week of Peat

Balvenie 14 Year Old Week of Peat is a Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, part of its Stories collection. For one week each year the distillery runs a batch of peated malt. Distillery manager Ian Millar ordered Speyside peat for the kiln after a visit to Islay, a departure from the distillery's usual methods. The result is a whisky of honey, vanilla and citrus with a delicate layer of smoke. The nose is gentle sweet peat smoke with light floral notes and butterscotch honey. The palate is velvety and round, with smoke balancing citrus, oaky vanilla and blossom honey. The finish is soft smoke with lingering, creamy vanilla.
