Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak Pineau Cask is a single malt finished in casks that previously held Pineau des Charentes, a fortified wine from the Charentes vineyards of France. It comes in a 70cl bottle.
Pineau des Charentes is made by adding Cognac eau-de-vie to unfermented grape juice and then maturing the blend. The malt master explored these casks after a family trip to the region, where he remembered sipping the wine as an aperitif. It was the first Balvenie finish to use French oak.
