Balvenie 40 Year Old Rare Marriages is a Speyside single malt from Dufftown, released in 2022 at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The release came to 150 bottles and belongs to the Rare Marriages series, which began in 2021.
Malt Master David Stewart combined some of the distillery's oldest and rarest traditional American and European oak casks to make it.
The nose is rich and elegant, with apricot, ginger snap and citrus, then vanilla, ginger spice and warm oak. The palate has honeyed oak and dried fruits, with sweetness and spice. The finish is warm and sherried, with ginger and citrus.
