Barrell Bourbon Cask Finish Series Mizunara is a blend of straight bourbons from Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, aged between 6 and 14 years. It is bottled in Kentucky at cask strength, 58.21% ABV (116.42 proof), in a 750ml bottle.
The blend was finished in Mizunara casks for one and a half years. The derived mash bill is 76% corn, 20% rye and 4% malted barley.
The nose opens with strawberry, golden raisin, amontillado sherry and a touch of sawdust, then honey, vanilla, sugar cookie and white peach. The palate is viscous, with lemongrass, star anise and peppermint first, followed by honey, sweet cornbread and dates. The finish brings spearmint, palo santo, lime zest and ginger.
