Basil Hayden's 10 Year Old is a bourbon with a high-rye mash bill of 63% corn, 27% rye and 10% malted barley. It was introduced in December 2018 as a limited annual release and is bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The bourbon is aged for ten years and has a dark amber colour.
The nose combines oak, cocoa, toffee, baking spices, vanilla, dried fruit and hazelnuts, with hints of citrus and s'mores. On the palate come toffee, leather, roasted nuts, cocoa, dark dried fruit and graham cracker, with orange peel and a slight yeastiness. The finish is of medium length, with oak, dried fruit, nuts and a touch of baking spice, ending on a biscuity note.
