Basil Hayden's 10 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 75cl bottle. It uses the same high-rye recipe as the standard Basil Hayden's, made from 63% corn, 27% rye and 10% malted barley, but spends longer in barrel.
The ten years are spent in newly charred American oak, which brings caramel and vanilla sweetness alongside the rye spice. The colour is golden amber.
The nose is of big oak with hints of char, vanilla and rye. The palate balances oak with caramel sweetness and rye spice, and the finish is lightly smoky with a subtle touch of char.
