BDF Single Cask No. 3 is a single pot still Irish whiskey distilled in 2018, and the third single cask bottling from Best Drinking Friends, a collection curated by Julia Nourney, Thorsten Frahling and Mareike Spitzer. It is bottled at a cask strength of 55.2% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colouring.
After two years in ex-bourbon casks, the whiskey moved to a white wine cask for further maturation.
The nose is malty and grainy with restrained plum, cherry and zest, plus warm spice, vanilla and a floral, herbal edge. On the palate, malt sugar leads, with dried kiwi, figs and apricots alongside peppery spice. The finish turns dry quickly, then lingers with oily chocolate, almonds and walnuts.
