Belfour Rye Whiskey (75cl, 47%)

Belfour Rye is an American rye whiskey made at Southern Distilling Company in Statesville, North Carolina. It is bottled at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. The mashbill is 70% rye, 20% corn and 10% malted barley, and the whiskey spends a minimum of 18 months in new charred American oak. It is made as a sweet mash: each fermentation starts with fresh yeast, rather than the sour mash method used by most American whiskey producers. The nose brings toasted marshmallow, sea salt caramel toffee and burnt vanilla. On the palate, caramel and brown sugar give way to soft leather, lemon zest and building spice. The finish is full-bodied and warming, closing on peppermint.
