This is the 2002 Christmas decanter from Bell's, the blended Scotch whisky house of Arthur Bell & Sons in Perth. It was issued to celebrate James Watt, who lived from 1736 to 1819 and was born in Greenock. Watt improved the design of the Newcomen steam engine and patented the condensing chamber in 1769. The unit of power, the watt, is named after him.
