Ben Nevis – 10 Year Old, bottled 2017 (6cl, 46%)

This is an official 10 year old Ben Nevis single malt, bottled in 2017 at 46% ABV. It comes from the revamped version of the distillery's 10 year old. The whisky is typically described as mineral and sooty, with a dry, leathery character and none of the caramel flavours found in earlier bottlings. On the nose there are overripe bananas, tangerines, a little salt, kelp, wet rocks, mint lozenges and buttered porridge. The palate shows lemon and pepper, barley sugar, hay and preserved salty lemons. The finish is rather long, with bitter oranges and a little salty wax.
