Ben Nevis – 13 Year Old 2012/2026 Murray McDavid Benchmark Oloroso Cask

This is a 13 year old Ben Nevis single malt from the Scottish Highlands, distilled in 2012 and bottled in 2026 by the independent bottler Murray McDavid for its Benchmark series. The whisky was finished in Oloroso sherry casks from Bodegas Ximénez-Spínola. The sherry they held before was made from Pedro Ximénez grapes rather than the usual Palomino. Ben Nevis Distillery has stood at the foot of Britain's highest mountain since 1825. The nose has dark raisins, creamy toffee and brown sugar. On the palate a firm malt character meets ripe dates and candied apple, and the finish brings roasted almonds with gentle oak spice.
