A 55-year-old Highland single malt from Ben Nevis, released by Signatory Vintage in its Rare Reserve range. It was distilled in April 1966 and matured in hogsheads before bottling in 2021 at 45.3% ABV. The whisky comes from three casks, numbers 2456, 2457 and 2458, and fills 99 bottles of 70cl. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The nose offers ripe nectarines and light grapes with sweet vanilla, fine malt and an elegant touch of wood. On the palate, caramelised peaches meet spicy oak, vanilla cream and white grapes, with an oily yet pleasantly dry texture. The finish is long, with dry old oak, malty tones and a soft caramel afterglow.
